PROJECT BACKGROUND
Everyone wants to keep their inner injuries and wounds concealed, for it is full of pain to show them to others. Generally, wounds frequently stir up thoughts of harm, suffering, struggle, and grief in people's minds. For many girls, getting married is their dream, and the once-in-a-lifetime, sacred moment of the wedding ceremony is often what they wish to become real one day. During the ceremony, the bride’s wedding gown is always one of the most important elements. As the gown is the centre of attention in a moment that will be treasured for a lifetime, it should have that eye-catching, “wow” factor.
PROJECT CONCEPT
A wedding with integrated Western and Chinese culture. Taking inspiration from my own ethnic background as a mixed-race of Filipino and Chinese, I want to make the artwork more related to myself and to honour my upbringing as I have been taught to never forget my roots no matter where life takes me. To visualise it, a non-traditional wedding gown with both cultural patterns, elements, colours and silhouette have been incorporated. Everyone has a vulnerable side at some points in their life. Wounds are a symbol of vulnerability. Our injury, regardless of how memorable it is, will keep us stronger as a result of our wounds. The wound gives me a scary impression.
