Eat to save the earth
PROJECT BACKGROUND
“From Farm to Table” is an interdisciplinary solution jointly organised by the Centre for Communication Design of Hong Kong Design Institute and Zero Footprint Asia (ZFPA) as well as other VTC academic programmes from the Department of Health and Life Science and The Chinese Culinary Institute. This campaign supports the Hong Kong food industry and local farmers with a one-percent pledge business model. The pledge comes with a 1%-surcharge provided to help farmers improve their soil for growing crops.
PROJECT CONCEPT
The design concept of “From Farm to Table“ is a comprehensive online shopping platform that provides publicity, promotion, and retail services to local farmers and restaurants. The platform will provide shopping options, including traceable vegetable boxes, meal kits, restaurant menu browsing, takeaway meals, cooking recipes, restaurant reservations, and other convenient delivery services. It also provides items with educational value, including nutritional analysis conducted by students of health and life sciences programmes. In addition, a promotional video demonstrates how the 1% Pledge works. In terms of promotion, a small sticker to promote the 1% commitment will be affixed to food delivery boxes and takeaway boxes to promulgate the concept of sustainable development.
