"RED"
Stage Design of Drama Script “RED”
PROJECT BACKGROUND
In the play, Mark Rothko has an internal struggle between the value of art and commercialism. In the end, he chose to uphold his artistic values and gave up his “fame”. If we were Mark Rothko, how should we determine which values to uphold?
PROJECT CONCEPT
My design concept was inspired by the tangled inner world of Mark Rothko. By utilizing a theme of chaotic space, I portrayed the artistic perspective of Mark Rothko and depicted the discrepancies that existed between him and the Four Seasons Restaurant in terms of artistic belief and value. This portrayal allows the audience to possess the courage to boldly show their true self.
