Help the dyslexic youths learn.
PROJECT BACKGROUND
In recent years, research results have shown that the number of students assessed as having dyslexia has increased. Such students’ academic performances tend to be poor, and they often have diminishing learning motivation in the long run. This card game is designed to support students who dyslexia in learning the glyph structure of Chinese characters, such as similar and mirrored words. It can cultivate a positive mindset for students to get along with each other, improve their organisational skills, increase their motivation to learn, and boost their self-confidence.
PROJECT CONCEPT
This project is aimed at providing stimulating and fun games and tools for dyslexia, with elementary and middle school students affected by the condition of dyslexia as the primary target groups. Given that strokes of similar words can be confusing to dyslexic learners, they are presented in an image format, which can dispel their fear towards Chinese characters. By choosing a set of sharp colours as the main colour tone, the design represents a sense of liveliness and playfulness. This is accompanied by a simple style that features minimal decorations and only includes simple images necessary to illustrate the contents.
