Manga Element Application in Animation
PROJECT BACKGROUND
Manga is a global phenomenon. Furthermore, digital copies are increasingly coming into vogue. With the advanced technology, manga can now come alive with moving images like the newspapers in Harry Potter. Another example would be “Man in the Tunnel Alley”, which is an animation in manga style created by Kenji Iwaisawa. The aim of this project is to study the best ways to apply manga elements in animation. The final product in this project will be an animation trailer with manga.
PROJECT CONCEPT
This project aims to create a possible type of manga by producing animation with manga elements and to find out if this new hybrid is workable. The project includes a minor test for shading in order to study the halftone range in the Arnold shader in Maya. The quality of final production and workflow is analyzed to determine the feasibility of 2D and 3D methods. The final production will also propose improvements and suggestions.
