PROJECT BACKGROUND

Introduced by Memphis in the 80s, the artistic approach of furniture design has since become a global trend. In the recent years, however, there has seen a progressive weakening of the more revolutionary and charged aesthetics of its product language. With this in mind, the students designed furniture that has placed less emphasis on the aesthetic identity of Memphis yet was in a way consistent with the brand. Meanwhile, in line with the new aesthetic sensibilities native to digital networks, the new designs have brought fresh ideas of the new contemporary visual scenarios into the real products, thereby defining a new contemporality in which the physical product speaks the language of the digital image and realizing the concepts into a “solid“ and physically present object.
